Chettinad
Heritage Tiffin with Fun.
From the land of memoirs, mansions, masalas, and magnificent feasts -
where every recipe carries a memory, and every spice tells a secret.
In Chettinad, food isn’t just cooked, it’s celebrated, argued about, perfected, and finally shared with laughter.
Welcome to a kitchen that believes food should smile before you eat it -a place where the aroma of roasted pepper meets the warmth of old stories, and where every plate is served with generosity, joy, and just the right amount of mischief.
Authentic flavours from the heart of Tamil Nadu, stirred by hand,
spiced with tradition, and served with Alagappa’s warmth, wit, and wink of humour.

Sit back, sip your filter coffee, and let the feast — and the storytelling — begin.

Our Story
Chettinad is more than food — it’s a way of life. It’s where hospitality is heritage and flavour is philosophy. From the carved pillars of Karaikudi mansions to the aroma of freshly ground spices, every element of Chettinad tells a story.
Our Inspiration
The Chettiars were world travellers and spice traders. They brought home influences from Burma, Malaysia, and Singapore — blending them with the soul of Tamil Nadu. Their cuisine reflects sophistication, balance, and boldness.
Our Kitchen Philosophy
At Chettinad, we believe food should smile before you eat it. Pure, earthy, and unforgettable — just like the people who made them famous.
Our Legacy
We take pride in serving food the Chettinad way — warm hospitality, handcrafted spice blends, and the joy of sharing. Whether you’re here for breakfast, lunch, or a quick coffee, you’ll always find a story on our banana leaf.

Meet Alagappa
The Heart of Our Kitchen
I’ve travelled the spice trails of Karaikudi and the corridors of Mumbai. I speak English, Tamil, and most importantly — flavour.
My recipes? Passed down by grandmothers, perfected in laughter, and finished with a handful of curry leaves.
Whether you call it a tiffin or a full meal, I just call it happiness on a banana leaf.

The Founders’ Story
A Family That Missed Home, and Cooked It Back.
We’ve lived away from Chettinad for years, in Mumbai and elsewhere —but our hearts never really left home.
Every time we went back, our daughters, Shri and Suvarna, would ask, “Why do we get so many dishes here — paniyaram, idiyappam, appam, adhirasam, achu murukku — but not outside Chettinad?”
That question sparked our journey. Most people think South Indian food means idli, dosa, and only vegetarian food. But in truth, Tamil Nadu -especially Chettinad has some of India’s most flavourful non-veg dishes: Chicken Chettinad, Nandu Curry, Meen Kuzhambu, and more.
Chettinad is not just about spice, it’s about warmth, balance, and generosity. We wanted to bring that full story to those who had never experienced it.
